Infusion calculator
How strong is your cannabutter or oil? Enter grams of flower, THC percentage and the volume of fat, and the calculator gives the mg of THC per millilitre, per tablespoon, per teaspoon and per serving.
The formula
mg of THC per ml = flower grams × THC % × 1,000 × 0.72 ÷ millilitres of butter or oil. The factor 0.72 assumes 90% decarboxylation and 80% transfer into the fat; both can be adjusted.
mg of THC per tablespoon, 240 ml of butter or oil
| Flower | 15% THC | 20% THC | 25% THC |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3.5 g | 23.3 mg | 31.1 mg | 38.8 mg |
| 7 g | 46.6 mg | 62.1 mg | 77.6 mg |
| 14 g | 93.2 mg | 124.2 mg | 155.3 mg |
Frequently asked questions
How many mg of THC are in a tablespoon of cannabutter?
Divide the active THC of the batch by the millilitres of butter and multiply by 14.79. With 7 g of 20% flower in 240 ml of butter that is about 62 mg per tablespoon; with 3.5 g of 15% flower, about 23 mg.
Does the same math work for oil and tinctures?
Yes. Butter, coconut oil, olive oil and alcohol tinctures all use the same calculation: active THC divided by the volume of the infusion.
How do I make a weaker batch?
Use less flower, more butter or oil, or mix the infused fat with plain fat in the recipe. The dosing calculator can also work backwards from the dose you want per serving.
