Green dragon is the classic alcohol tincture: decarboxylated flower soaked in high proof, food grade alcohol. Alcohol pulls the cannabinoids out without any fat, so the result is clear, keeps for a long time and is easy to measure by the drop.
Use it under the tongue, stirred into a drink, or as the base for other recipes such as the cannabis simple syrup. Because it is concentrated, a dropper bottle with a written label is the safest way to keep it.
The slow method takes two to four weeks in a dark cupboard. The quick method warms the sealed jar in a water bath for about an hour. Never heat alcohol over an open flame.

Ingredients
- 7 g Decarboxylated cannabis
- 250 ml High-proof food-grade alcohol (e.g. Everclear)
Method
- Combine decarbed flower and alcohol in a sealed jar.
- Store in a cool, dark place for 2–4 weeks, shaking daily (or use a warm-bath quick method for 1 hour).
- Strain through a coffee filter into a dropper bottle.
- Label and dose by the drop or teaspoon.

What alcohol should I use?
A high proof, food grade spirit of around 75 to 95 percent alcohol. Never use rubbing alcohol or anything that is not meant for drinking.

Kept in a dark glass bottle away from heat and light, an alcohol tincture keeps for a year or more.
How much should I take?
With this recipe one teaspoon holds about 20 mg THC. Start with a few drops, around 2.5 to 5 mg, wait at least two hours, and only then decide whether to take more.
